Foxed Twice
Today I woke up at around eight. Me and mom are going to New York again for jewelries and bags. So we left early because we want to get on the express bus at Foxwood. And when we arrived in Foxwoods we found out that the schedule for the express bus of Greyhound was changed. So my mom asked me to sit at the lounge and watch the bags while she gets the new schedule information from the office. Chosing a chair, she choose the same chair I sat on the last time I was there. I was about to protest and asked her to change to the middle row of seats when she dropped her bags on one of them and left me. Sighing I sat at the chair next to her bag and laid my huge bag on the next chair. I don't want a rerun of the last time I was there. So when mom was gone I sat there and relaxed. Then suddenly this tall Arab looking guy stood in front of me and looked at the buses. Then he looked down on me and asked me something. All I got was the word bus and Greyhound. I asked him if he could repeat what he said.
"Are you waiting for the Greyhound bus going to Boston?" He repeated.
"No. I'm heading for New York. On a Grayhound bus too."
"They said that the bus was suppossed to arrived here by 9:20." He explained.
"Oh, that's okay. They are usually late. You just need to wait and they'll be coming along in a while." I assured him.
"Oh good. So where did you say you were heading?"
And that my friend, where it all happend again.
But at least he was far better looking than the Chinese guy. And when he got down to talking with me he has no choice but to sit on the chair after my bag... Far beyond my reach.
Then he told us he was gambling the whole night and was about to leave this early morning but was detained. And we asked about how did it go for him and he answered it went pretty good. He won a couple of hundreds. And he said he has a strong intuition about numbers that it borders on psychic.
And on that part my mind said, "Oh-uh."
Then mom came and he asked me if she was my mom or my sister. Which sent my mom in a twitter.
And he also said that there's something about Foxwood, that there's
like an aura or force that it doesn't make you want to leave.
Then he started on the statistics of winning cards. Then after that the money you earn annualy and the expenses. On which part mom was amazed by his calculations, of course mom's aptitude for math is less to be desired. Then he introduced himself as Constanstine. Then we also found out that he was Spanish and not Arabic as we first thought.
He also said that he knew we were Filipinos.
"I could see it in your faces." As he put it.
Then we explained that we could understand some of their language because we were under Spanish rule for how many years.
And he was amazed by this information.
Then after that, he changed topic and went into finding a right partner on life. He said a wise man should look for a woman with substance and brain. Because man is nothing without someone there who could push him.
Then our bus arrived. We have to say goodbye.
Then he told my mom, "You shouldn't bring her here." Waving his hand indicating me, "She's too young and too beautiful to be brought in a place like this."
My mom just laughed.
Then he asked if I go to Boston a lot. I replied go there if I want to eat dumplings.
"Okay. I'll give you my number. If you ever go to Boston give a call okay?"
"Yeah lab." My mom said to me. "get his number and I'll go ahead on the bus." Then she left me.
Traitor.
"Okay here's my number. It's easy to remember. Do you always go to Boston?"
"No. Just in Upton for paintball." I replied.
"Pingpong?" He asked confused.
"No." I smiled. "Paintball."
"Paintball? You mean..." ,then he made a gesture of shootiing.
"Yup." I replied. "But I was there last week, me and my friends watched a basketball game."
"Great. Okay, if you ever go there give me a call and maybe we could go out and drink coffee or have dinner."
"Okay." I replied putting the paper with his number on the side pocket of my backpack. "Nice meeting you." I said.
"Nice meeting you too." And we shook hands.
When I got on the bus, mom was there at the door waiting for me. As we took our seats I asked "Mom, what's with men at Foxwoods?"
"At least, he's good looking. Did you notice how soft his hands were?" Was her reply.
"No I did not. Did you know why he noticed me? He said beacuse I was wearing his favorite color."
Fingering my red beads, "Maybe I should throw this out."
"Why?" My mom asked me.
"Because I was wearing this when that Chinese guy was hitting on me last time I was here." I explained.
"He was?" My mom was doubtful.
"Yeah, didn't you remebered he was admiring it while he was fondling it?" I reminded her.
"Oh yeah." She said.
"And I was wearing the same earrings too. And the same shirt! And the same pants!!" I said amazed.
After thinking for a while, I said, " On second thought... I won't throw them away."
"What? Souvenir?" Mom asked.
"No, I'll burn them."
